Celebrating WTD in Seagull Mountain Resort 2013

Teachers often coined as somebody whom you’ve seen inside the jeepney with 2 or more heavy bags and huge umbrellas, with envelopes, with no make-ups, with someone talking about reports, and sleeping.  But let me lay to you the prestige personality of teachers whom you’ve never seen.

OCTOBER 5, 2013 – Declared as World Teachers’ Day.  Becoming part of the noble profession lays a humble and quiet celebration together with my fellow constituents with in the school.

Through the initiative of our ever dearest School head Mrs. Nena P. Laurente and through the huge help of our City Government and Barangay Officials – we’ve come to celebrate the event in Seagull Mountain Resort, located in Buda, Davao del Sur.

Such a wonderful, greenly, foggy, elegant and nature friendly place for a team building activity.  Just like the lovely flowers and leafy pine trees surrounding the place, VFCES team made a successful affair in meeting up the objectives of the programs.  It strengthened our leadership skills and enhanced our personality and spirituality.

WORLD TEACHERS' MONTH CELEBRATION 2012

WORLD TEACHERS DAY
“My Teacher, My Hero” – This theme echoed amidst the warm morning air in Vedasto F. Corcuera gym as the school joined the world in the observance of the World Teachers Day. To mark the commencement of the month-long celebration, the teachers and students of VFCES were gathered at the gym on September 5 at nine o’clock in the morning.
Students were not much aware of what was going on until our principal Ma’am Nena Laurente announced that it was the launching of the celebration. Knowing this, some of the students roved around the campus to pick flowers for their teachers and that effort was appreciated. Aside from that, it was amazing how quick the pupils in responding. Teachers received letters from them right after the program. The giving of letters didn’t end there though. At least three boxes were situated around the campus where the students could drop their messages not only for their present but for their previous teachers as well.   For the whole month round, these messages were given to teachers and these letters actually became source of inspiration for them. One of teachers even said that this simple expression of gratitude from students made her day brighter.
The celebration goes beyond the corners of the school or other academic institutions. Some organizations, companies, barangays and even the media simultaneously organized activities in unison with the observance. For instance, a Retro Dance competition in Barangay Panacan was held wherein the dancers of VFCES were the once who brought home the bacon. Tarpaulins with ‘My Teacher, My Hero’ catchphrase written in it could be found hung in different places. Some parents even prepared gifts for the teachers of their kids. However, the celebration on the teachers’ side, isn’t just about receiving. It is about giving as well-giving of something that is lasting. The educators of Corcuera did so by participating in a TREE PLANTING project initiated by the school principal supported and sponsored by HOLCIM PHIL.
With the aim of making the celebration truly meaningful and special particularly on October 5, Mr. and Ms. Educator were chosen from each grade level. Mr. Alvin Olaer of grade six and Mrs. Marilou Canonigo of grade three were the ones who got hold of the title as Mr. and Ms. Educator of VFCES for 2012.
The Shoe Mart (SM) Mall did more than advertizing the event. Teachers from different schools in Davao City including Corcuera were invited to witness some prepared presentations and at the same time receive presents from certain sponsors. Speaking of presentations, the audience watched with awe as our school dancers  filled the stage with their elegance and moves. How thankful we were to our administrator for giving us the chance to be there. We could say that it was really our day!
It wasn’t over yet. In Vedasto F. Corcuera, the celebration was extended till the following Sunday, October 7. Majority of the teachers together with their Principal and District Supervisor headed to Eden Park to let loose of their pressures and be with the nature. A truly wonderful experience.
The celebration had ended but for the heart of the pupils, their teachers are always their hero.
